Veneers

If you have stained, chipped, or uneven teeth, veneers can help transform your teeth into a beautiful white smile. Veneers make teeth look uniform, and are bonded to your teeth using a cement material. There are a few different types of veneers, and to determine which type of veneer is best for you depends on the condition of your teeth. The two main types of veneers used today are composite and porcelain veneers.

Composite Veneers

Composite veneers are similar to porcelain veneers, and help with chips, gaps, or length. The process for applying composite veneers is quicker and can be done in just one visit. Composite veneers cost less compared to porcelain veneers, but also do not last as long. The average lifespan for composite veneers is 4-8 years.

Composite veneers are more easily fixed compared to porcelain veneers if a patient has a chip or crack. During your visit, your teeth are prepared and the resin material is added to your teeth. We then cure the area and polish your teeth, leaving you with a beautiful smile. The composite material matches the color and shade of your teeth giving you a natural looking smile.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are made out of durable ceramic and are easily customized to best fit your teeth. This type of veneer is also great for correcting chips, gaps, or uneven teeth. Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are applied to the outer surface of your teeth. This type of veneer does require at least two visits to our office.

During the procedure we prepare your teeth by removing a thin layer. Impressions are taken and sent out to a lab. Temporary veneers are placed while you wait for your permanent veneers to be fabricated. When you return for your second appointment the veneers are bonded to your teeth, leaving you with a beautiful white smile.

Porcelain veneers are very durable and do last longer than composite veneers. On average, porcelain veneers last between 10-15 years. Porcelain veneers have less risk of chipping or breaking. If you do suffer damage to your porcelain veneers this requires the entire veneer to be replaced. Veneers catch light just like our natural teeth, and really give patients a natural look. Porcelain veneers are stain resistant, and stay bright white once they are applied. Porcelain veneers do cost more compared to composite veneers, but this is because the placement and process takes longer.

Which Type of Veneer is Best for Me?

When choosing the best type of veneer our team will begin with a detailed consultation. Depending on the severity of your teeth and work needed, will determine which type of veneer is best for you. Our team will listen to your goals, and discuss our recommendations for treatment. We want our patients to understand the differences between veneers, how long they last, and the benefits of each type available before making their decision.

Laser Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a great cosmetic option for patients that want a beautiful white smile. Teeth whitening builds confidence and choosing the right method is important. Laser teeth whitening treatment is the latest technology available, and can brighten your teeth many shades lighter. Our doctors have years of experience in cosmetic dentistry, and can help you choose the teeth whitening treatment that best works for you.

How Does Laser Teeth Whitening Work?

Laser teeth whitening begins with a thorough cleaning of your teeth. This removes any plaque that may interfere with your treatment. The teeth whitening gel is applied to your teeth, and a laser is used to help speed up the whitening process. The laser activates the gel, and this is what targets stains or discoloration, leaving you with beautiful white teeth. Using a laser gives our team the ability to ensure the treatment is done evenly. The laser also allows you to concentrate on a certain area that may be more heavily stained. Laser whitening treatment results can be seen immediately after just one treatment.

Is Laser Teeth Whitening Safe and Are There Any Side Effects?

Laser teeth whitening treatment is a safe and easy way to get amazing results. The process is quick and efficient, and gives you long lasting bright white teeth. After your laser treatment you may have slight sensitivity or irritation, but this should subside after a few days. Other methods can be rough on your enamel, but laser teeth whitening is gentle and produces outstanding results. Once you have completed your laser treatment our team will discuss tips and tricks regarding how to keep your teeth bright white going forward. We discuss what foods or drinks to avoid, and we offer an at home whitening treatment for patients that may want to touch up their teeth in the comfort of their own home.

Gum Pain around a Dental Bridge

If you have pain in the gum area around a dental bridge, it may be time to see your dentist. There are several things that can cause pain around a dental bridge, and it is important to make an appointment right away. At Springlove Dentistry, we offer a flexible schedule and extended hours to help patients that need to be seen right away. Your health is our priority and if you find yourself in pain, we encourage you to contact us right away, so we can help diagnose and treat the issue.

Why Would I Have Pain Around My Bridge?

There are a few different reasons why you may be experiencing pain around your bridge. A detailed examination of your teeth, gums, and the bridge will be required to determine the cause and treatment necessary. Our doctor will ask questions about when the pain started and how long the pain lasts. X-rays may be needed to provide a clear picture of your teeth and gums.

Decay or Infection

Sometimes food or debris can get stuck in between your teeth and cause decay. This can cause pain around the gum area of your bridge. If your bridge does not fit properly, this may allow bacteria and plaque to enter underneath or between teeth, and cause pain or an infection.

Sensitivity

Some sensitivity is common with a newly fitted bridge. Patients may experience sensitivity with hot or cold, but this should subside after a few weeks.

When Should I Call the Dentist?

After a bridge procedure, patients may experience some pain, but this should subside after a few days. If you notice your pain lasts more than a few days we recommend calling our office. This could indicate you have a dental bridge that does not fit properly, or a potential infection. Leaving an infection untreated can cause more serious issues, and should be addressed right away.

We recommend following good oral hygiene habits at home, and carefully brushing and flossing around your bridge. This will help to ensure all of the food and bacteria is removed each day, and prevent pain or infection. Flossing is extremely important, and our staff will discuss how to floss properly, and review how to care for your bridge at home.
