INVISALIGN®

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is an orthodontic system that helps to straighten teeth and improve overall oral quality and health. The system uses clear trays which are known as aligners. These aligners are relatively invisible to the naked eye, which ensures that no one but you and the dental team will even know you’re wearing braces. Invisalign® is ideal for older teens and adults looking for an inconspicuous way to straighten their teeth.

Who Is A Candidate For Invisalign

Why is Invisalign® needed?

You might want or require Invisalign® because your teeth are crooked, crowded, unevenly spaced or if you have an under or overbite. Invisalign® treatment is easy to wear and is removable, as compared to other braces. You will need to remove your Invisalign® aligners anytime you eat or brush your teeth. Treatment can take anywhere from a few months to several years depending on how severely crooked or crowded your teeth currently are.

Who is a candidate for Invisalign®?

Because Invisalign® is removable and has to be taken out when eating and brushing, it’s best suited for older teens and adults who can commit to treatment. Younger children and teens who may take out their Invisalign® too often may not be the best candidates for treatment. We can conduct a consultation and examination to determine if you might benefit from Invisalign®. Most patients who would like Invisalign® can safely have the treatment done.

What happens during Invisalign® treatment?

The process for having Invisalign® treatment begins with a consultation. This will involve an exam, x-rays and impressions that will allow us to make your first set of aligners. You will need to wear these aligners for no less than 22 hours every day. They must be removed before eating and brushing your teeth. You’ll then come back into the office at regular intervals, normally every few weeks, for new aligners to be made for you. Treatment continues until your teeth are straightened appropriately.
